Science

Science

Science is, therefore, a systematic enterprise that organizes and builds testable explanations and predictions about the universe. It is an understanding of the natural world through observation, experimentation, and logical reasoning.

Science is mainly divided into three important branches: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students have to master all the concepts that come under these branches, as they form the base through which most of the questions they would meet while taking the exam are asked.

Study of Science will not only help in grasping the basic laws but will also hone problem-solving skills, which are critical for success in the exam. The in-depth understanding of the subject will greatly help in bringing high marks and top rank in any exam.

2.0Branches of Science

Physics

Physics is the scientific basis upon which the universe and everything that forms it is explored- understand the rules, or law, governing matter, energy, space, and time. Physics may, therefore, be referred to as a language of the universe, as such a tool for describing how things move, interact, and change.

Key Topics of Physics:

  • Electric Current
  • Drift Velocity
  • Ohm’s Law and Electric Resistance
  • Kirchhoff’s Rule
  • Electric Power and Electric Energy
  • Measuring Devices

Chemistry

Chemistry describes the properties, composition, and structure of matter. It demonstrates the ways through which any given forms of matter have interactions with each other as well as how they can be transformed into a new substance. It is easy to describe chemistry as a study of what the world is made of and how all these components interact.

Key Topics of Chemistry:

  • Periodic table
  • Trends in periodic properties
  • Carbon and its Compounds
  • Covalent bonding
  • Alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes
  • Metals and Non-metals
  • Physical and chemical properties of metals and non-metals
  • Chemical Reactions and Equations
  • Exothermic and endothermic reactions
  • Corrosion and rancidity

Biology

This includes any living organism with their interactions with the environment, and biology is basically the study of life itself. It is a broad field with branches that specialize in all aspects of life.

Key topics of Biology:

  • Evolution
  • Theories of Evolution of Life
  • Evidence of Organic Evolution
  • Theories for Origin of LIfe
  • Genetic Drift
  • Heisenberg Principle
  • Speciation, Human Evolution
  • Ecology
  • Locomotion and Movement

3.0Key Features of Science

  1. Empiricism: Science relies on observation and experiment rather than speculation or authority. Objectivity: Scientists attempt to be objective - they try to eliminate personal prejudices and preconceptions from their work. This leads to a more accurate view of nature.
  2. Falsifiability: Scientific theories and hypotheses must always have the ability to be falsified, so some experiment or observation could prove them wrong. This is so essential in tightening our knowledge and not making false claims.
  3. Replication: Scientific discoveries should be replicable; other scientists should be able to redo the experiments or observations and reproduce similar results. This means those findings are reliable.
  4. Systematic Method: It is a systematic method in science. Science is a step-by-step process that implies observation, hypothesis, experimentation, establishing data, and then drawing conclusions. In this manner, fewer mistakes can be committed, and accuracy can be accomplished.

Frequently Asked Questions

Science refers to the very methodical way of understanding the earth as observed, experimented upon, and deduced from logic. That's why it is so very important for technological advancement, solving problems, and determining whether something is good or bad for our environment and health.

Learning physics makes us come to the understanding of basic laws created for the universe; it makes us develop into innovators of technological advancements-from smartphones to medicine devices, among others. It improves your solving skills and broadens intellectual curiosities.

Chemistry is a branch of science in the definition of properties, composition, and structure of matter. Some of the key areas include; the periodic table, chemical bonding, reactions, and study of different substances such as metals, nonmetals, and organic compounds.

Biology is the study of life itself and diversely incorporated organisms plus ways they have to do with the environment. It shows how evolution can be linked to human health, ecology, and human interference with the planet.

Students can access free study material at ALLEN such as video lessons on different science topics, detailed explanation of topics, revision notes, sample papers and previous year solved question papers etc.

The major branches of Science are Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
